There is a great deal at stake in this November election. Of course, the top of the ticket — the president, Congress and state Legislature — gets most of the attention.
But it’s important to remember that our state’s laws and fair treatment for residents under the law is also on the ballot with the election of the Michigan Supreme Court.
It may not always be clear how or why the Michigan Supreme Court impacts health care, but it does.
Respecting the rule of law plays a crucial role in improving access to care for residents in our state. Legal reform creates a climate that attracts doctors to Michigan, increases care for families and helps keep costs down.
Justices Stephen Markman, Brian Zahra and Judge Colleen O’Brien understand this.
They are the three candidates for the Michigan Supreme Court who know the law, respect the law and understand the law exists to protect people, not produce profits for those looking to take advantage of the system.
As a physician who cares for and treats patients in our community every day, this is important. And that’s why I’m voting for Justice Stephen Markman, Justice Brian Zahra and Judge Colleen O’Brien for the Michigan Supreme Court on Nov. 6.
I hope you will, too.
